Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Boat Transfer to Mahale Mountains National Park

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Mwanza Airport, you’ll be met by a representative from our safari company, who will assist you with your luggage and transfer you to a domestic flight to Mahale Airstrip. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your guide and take a boat transfer to your camp, located on the shores of Lake Tanganyika. After checking in, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the crystal-clear waters of the lake.

Day 2: Full day in Mahale

After breakfast, you’ll set out on a trek in search of chimpanzees. Mahale Mountains National Park is home to the largest population of chimpanzees in Tanzania, and you’ll have the chance to observe these fascinating creatures up close as they go about their daily activities in the forest. The trek can be challenging, but the rewards are well worth it. You’ll also have the opportunity to see other wildlife such as colobus monkeys, baboons, and a variety of bird species. After the trek, you’ll return to camp for lunch and then have the afternoon free to relax on the beach or take a dip in the lake.

Day 3: Fishing and Village Visit

Today, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the local culture and way of life. After breakfast, you’ll take a boat ride to a nearby fishing village, where you’ll meet the locals and learn about their traditional fishing methods. You can even try your hand at fishing if you like! You’ll also have the opportunity to visit the village school and interact with the children. In the afternoon, you’ll return to camp for lunch and spend the rest of the day relaxing or exploring the area around the camp.

Day 4: Departure

After breakfast, you’ll take a boat transfer back to Mahale Airstrip for your flight back to Kilimanjaro International Airport or Mwanza Airport, marking the end of your Mahale Mountains National Park safari. However, if your schedule permits, you can opt to extend your stay and explore other parts of Tanzania or even neighboring countries.
