Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), a representative will meet and transfer you to Masailand Safari Lodge. The lodge is located amidst coffee fields, providing a peaceful setting to relax before embarking on your 8-day Wildebeest Calving Migration Ndutu (December to April) safari adventure. You’ll have a pre-safari briefing in the hotel.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

The 8-day Wildebeest Calving Migration Ndutu (December to April) tour begins with a drive to Tarangire National Park after breakfast. Tarangire is a small park with stunning scenery, and it comes alive with wildlife and birdlife congregating around the Tarangire River during the dry season. You’ll spend the night in a lodge within the park, which provides stunning views and a unique atmosphere. Later in the afternoon, you’ll travel to the special tented camp.

Day 3: Tarangire – Ndutu Plains/South Serengeti

After breakfast at the camp, you’ll proceed to Ndutu Plains in the Southern Serengeti migration safari. You’ll make a brief stop at the Loduare Main Gate before entering the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, followed by another stop to admire the spectacular views of the Ngorongoro Crater floor. The Lake Ndutu area is where the action takes place from December to March. You’ll have a picnic lunch, and the afternoon will be spent on game drives until it’s time to check in at the lodge or camp for dinner and overnight. You’ll stay at the Serengeti Savannah Ndutu Camp or the Ndutu Safari Lodge, where all meals are included.

Day 4: Ndutu Plains Calving Safari

On this day, you’ll visit the Ndutu plains in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area after breakfast. The Ndutu plains are the center of the wildebeest migration, with thousands of young calves born every day from January to March. You’ll witness thousands of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles spread over vast areas and have the rare opportunity to witness real wildlife action as predators attempt to capture their newborn foals. A walking safari with an armed ranger is also an optional activity that can be arranged with your driver. Ndutu is a fantastic place for bird watchers, with 400 resident and migratory bird species recorded.
